I made my reservation today and all the information I was given was confirmed with the reservation, so please don't feel you will lose a deposit if you have to make a last minute change.* I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and the service was great, as well as the food in their dinning room. I was happy to see that the committee chose this facility.*
Make your reservation NOW...............see you in September !
Pat Prince Rath* Alternative Hotel Reservations:
The reunion committee has realized that some of you that plan to attend the reunion have very specific logistic needs and preferences. It may be more suitable for those people to make there own hotel arrangements. In that way, each can speak directly with a hotel official and ask specific questions and make there own preferred arrangements. *
The Blog lists, for your convenience, the three hotels closest to the Friday evening icebreaker at the RonkonkomaHoliday Inn (631-585-9500). Once again, for you convenience, go ahead and make your own personal lodging arrangements. The committee will be as helpful as possible should you have particular questions about the area or specific event arrangements.
*
Checks are arriving. It’s great to be hearing from classmates after all this time. We look forward to hearing from many more.

Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale
Sachem High School Reunion 2010
* (The dinner reception at the Arboretum is Saturday September 11, 2010; this is the second event of the three day Reunion.) *
The objective of having a class reunion is to talk to as many old friends as possible. The committee discussed the problems and drawbacks of "Catering House Regimemtation." We decided that this is not something that we want! *
The Saturday dinner event is setup to be totally un-regimented. You will be free to converse where and when you so desire. You can move between the main dining areas, the Porch area, and even stroll over the beautiful grounds. You can eat when and where you so desire. This is conducive to renewing old friendships! *

WHO WILL BE ATTENDING?
**
Dear Sachem Alumni,
Our weekend-long reunion, is schedueled for Friday, 9/10/2010 through, Sunday, 9/12/2010. Here are some details:
*
Friday 9/10/2010 evening:
Icebreaker event at the Holiday Inn at Ronkonkoma, NY.The hotel is adjacent to the Islip Airport, has music on Friday evenings, and can accommodate us, depending on our final attendance numbers. There is no cost for the facility.Food and drinks can be ordered and paid for as per individual choice.Much more information will follow about the setting and the evening in general.
*
Saturday 9/11/2010:
You may remember the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. It is now a State Park facility. The setting is beautiful and the mansion is comfortable and inviting. We have secured the date and have plan on a four-hour event including buffet at the mansion. We can use both the dining room and the adjoining porch, which overlooks the great lawn and the lake.It will be an exclusive setting for us.It is a rain or shine setting that will allow for lots of conversation and fun.The cost for food and beverages is $75 per person.
*
We are checking into a visit to old Sachem High School and Gatelot Avenue School sometime during that day before the 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. gathering at the Arboretum. Much more information will follow about Saturday’s events.
Sunday 9/12/2010:
We have made preliminary arrangements for breakfast at the Island Grill Diner in Patchogue. There is a private dining section that should be perfect for our group. The plan is to meet there for breakfast on Sunday morning. We can divide the bill among those who attend.
*
In planning the three days, we have been strictly guided by the consensus of comments that classmates have been expressing, namely, MISKIF…make it simple, keep it fun.The goals are to allow lots of time for “catching up” with one another, keep costs in check, leave time for classmates to do there own event planning for the weekend, and stay as close to the Sachem site as possible.
*
The hotel setting was chosen for it’s zero group cost, its proximity to the airport, and its general accommodations. The Arboretum was selected for its comfortable, beautiful, and cost effective attributes.Sunday morning breakfast is a relaxed and cost effective event. You can choose to attend any of the events without having to commit to all of them.We are now collecting money for the Saturday evening event at the Arboretum.
*
Please register for the Saturday evening event by contacting Bill Monteverde (email address below).

John Cassese is accepting payment for the Saturday evening event. (Email address below)
